Spellbound: The demo is here!
After a few months, I'm finally finished my demo! It's got a few rough edges, that's for sure, but it's a solid start and a great way to get a glimpse of what this game will be like. I have big plans for it.
In summary, it's a simple RPG with a unique twist: combining magical elements found while exploring to create custom spells! Rather than be given a prefab Fireball, you have the freedom to create something on your own and use it out in the field. You are only as strong as the spells you can come up with.
So what does this demo have? Here's a rundown of the current features and gameplay mechanics.
- A small story about finding a lost amulet (won't be the full campaign)
- A simple magic system that allows you to create custom spells by combining elements
- Lots of randomly generated dungeons that increase in difficulty
WHAT'S NEXT?
Like I said, I have big plans for the next stage of development. I'll be diving deeper into the core mechanics of the game and expanding on each one.
- A dynamic questing system and a full campaign
- In-depth spellcrafting
- Co-op multiplayer (eventually)
- A village with merchants and civilians, each with their own routine. Trade with them and build relationships.
- Boss battles
- More worlds and regions to explore, randomly generated
TRAILER
I wish I could say I have a trailer to show off, but I wanted to push the demo today and I ran out of time. I'll work on it over the next few days and post it here when it's ready!
HOW TO PLAY
Right now it's just a simple .jar file. It automatically downloads the audio assets on first launch. There shouldn't be an issue, but if there is, let me know in the comments. I'll be glad to help.
Enjoy!
